Welcome!
Learning to Sew
I am starting this blog to document my progress as I learn to sew. I took a sewing class with my wife at our local library. We made several projects including a basic pin cushion, a doll, a bag, and some bean bags. After that, I tried to talk my wife into buying a sewing machine. But, she didn’t seem to be interested in sewing after the class was finished.
I figured my sewing career was over at this point. In passing I told some of my family members of my experience with the class. My sister had an old Sears Kenmore 1560 our Aunt had given her that she wasn’t using. So, I commandeered it and have completed several more projects.
My Sewing Machine
After acquiring the Kenmore sewing machine I’ve made two more bags and started to sew a quilt top. Both of the bags were a little more complicated and included a lining. The most recent one I made was a messenger bag and had a homemade strap with hardware from Strapworks.com.
The hardware was really high quality and well made so I left a review on their facebook page. They reached out to me and asked me to right a blog post for them showing the bag and the hardware. You can also see the FB post here.
Needless to say I was pretty pumped to be asked to blog and decided to start my own just to document my journey learning to sew. I also had several requests to make bags for some of my FB friends, so there might be a possibility of selling some of my creations in the future.
I will post new projects as I make them. Also, tutorials and videos are under consideration. Please comment and let me know what you’d like to see. Stay tuned and don’t forget to subscribe, like and share!
I may have to borrow your book when you are finished with it!
